The reader

Steven loves books. Being that his grandmas are a librarian and a teacher, it would be scandalous if he didn't. Most of his board books are on a shelf in the family room (a few are upstairs for bedtime reading) that he can easily reach. Sometimes I'll ask him to get a book for us to read, but most of the time if he wants to be read to he just goes and gets one himself. And he clearly chooses which one he wants, because often he'll pull them off the shelf and examine them one at a time until he finds the one he wants (the discards go on the floor, of course).

We do need to work on handing Mommy the book nicely, because right now his way of telling me he wants me to read a book is to shove the book in my face. He's also to the point where he wants each book read about seven times in a row--super fun for us!

Books are also comforting--sometimes he wakes up crying from his afternoon nap and as soon as I pick him up out of the crib and sit in the rocking chair he lunges for the stack of books on the night table beside it. A few times through Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and we're good to go.

I'll close with a cute shot of Daddy and Steven reading in their jammies on Saturday morning.
