Holy Beanpole, Batman!

At his pediatrician appointment on Wednesday Steven weighed 13#14oz and was 27 1/4 inches long. That puts him at the 25%ile for weight (only 1.5 pounds gained in 2 months) and >99%ile in length (3 1/4 inches gained in 2 months). He definitely seems to be taking after Mike's Grandpa B, who was, as we learned last night, already 6'1" in 6th grade! Lord help us keeping him clothed if that happens.

A few pictures from Daddy

Most of the pictures that are posted on this blog are from Karen. She does get to spend more time with Steven that I do, but I also take pictures when I can. Here is the pick of the bunch from the past couple of months.

June 24: Napping on Grandpa B at the river...

Trying out my hat on July 4th

August 11: Shopping tires me out

August 11: My new high chair!

4 months!

Steven turned 4 months old on Friday. I tried to do one of those pictures of him holding a sign, but he wasn't too keen on that. So when Daddy got home he tried holding Steven and the sign. Steven was more interested in chewing on Sophie (Sophie la girafe--thanks Cousin Joan!) than smiling for Mommy...

So we tried a different position...
This is right before it went in his mouth.
We have a well-baby appointment with the pediatrician on Wednesday, so we'll know how much he weighs and how long he is and what his percentiles are. At his last appointment the pediatrician said that we'd be talking this time about starting to introduce solid foods, so we'll see what she says about that. In preparation for such a time, we finally went out on Saturday and bought Steve a high chair.

He looks so tiny in it but that will change sooner than we think, I'm sure. We've decided that we should start eating with him at the table every night like civilized people, even if he's not quite ready for his own foods at the table, just to get used to it. We probably should have started that habit sooner, but, oh, well. We ate dinner at the table with him in the high chair last night and tonight and he did pretty well both times. He got a little fussy but was kept fairly occupied by some toys and lots of encouraging smiles from us until the end of the meal.

I'll try to update more later in the week after we've had the appointment on Wednesday. In the meantime, some fun pictures from a play session with Daddy last week...

That was fun!!
